Be part of a fun Volunteer Program

In 1991, South Africa became the first nation in the world to protect the Great White Shark. In granting this species protected status, South Africa sent a message to the world that it was time to stop viewing sharks falsely as killing machines and start respecting them as essential components of the marine ecosystem.

Why not be bold?

Take a stand – not only for yourself – but for sharks as well.  Be part of a fun & exciting experience in the “Great White Shark Capital of the World” by volunteering your time!

Our shark cage diving and viewing operation is based in Gansbaai. This coastal hideaway is only a mere 2 hours drive from Cape Town.  Dyer Island – just off the coast of Gansbaai – has drawn visitors from all over the world to get upclose-and-personal with the mysterious and graceful Great White Shark.  From the spectacular cliffs of De Kelders to the miles of white sandy beaches of Pearly Beach, you will also find one of the most unique and astonishing land-based whale watching spots in the word. Some of the Cape's best-conserved fynbos adorns the mountains in the area and numerous walks and trails criss-cross it.

As a volunteer you will be having everyday conversations with these magnificent great white sharks whilst in the company of an experienced and knowledgeable crew onboard “Nemo”;  cage diving regularly;  exploring the myths and wonders about Great White Sharks through various shark-related lectures;  also educating others that the Great White Shark is worth much more alive than dead.

Moreover, you will enjoy the true hospitality of the local South Africans employed at White Shark Adventures.  White Shark Adventures has set a benchmark for transformation in the shark diving and viewing industry – and the transfer of skills to historically disadvantaged persons is high on their priority list.  It comes as no surprise that White Shark Adventures was awarded in 2012 the prestigious Imvelo Responsible Tourism Award in the category “Most Empowered Tourism Business in Southern Africa”.

Whilst experiencing the beauty, grace and agility of these magnificent Great White Sharks – why don’t you get qualified as well?  Yes, on offer is various diving courses ranging from Open Water Scuba to Advanced Open Water Scuba.  Even, an internationally recognized commercial Scuba Course – subject to completion of entry-level criteria.
